Thank you for visiting my Amateur Radio Web Site.

I became interested in Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) during 1981 when my father bought me a Yaesu FRG 7 Communications Receiver. I used the receiver for Short Wave Listening (SWL). I mostly listened to Amateur Radio conversations and have logged thousands of stations. I have also received hundreds of confirmation QSL cards from all over the world. During this year I also joined the SARL (South African Radio League)

During 1988 I wrote the Radio Amateurs' Examination and passed receiving my ZR (limited) call sign - ZR6ASI. I used an old Crystal 2M rig ICOM IC215 to talk on the 2 meter band  to other Amateur Radio operators. I also used this rig to tune into the local CW classes presented by Johnny ZS6AJU. With his help I achieved the required 12 wpm requirement. I received my ZS license during 1989 - ZS6MAW

During those days we still had to either finish 200 QSO's on CW or wait 2 years. I finished my 200 QSO's using a Kenwood TS120V + TL120 and a straight key. During this period I learned to appreciate and love CW as communication mode.

Its now more than 20 years since I started my Amateur Radio career and I am just as passionate about this hobby as I have every been. I am still a member of the SARL and have just joined the ARRL as well.

I have created this web site to share my Amateur Radio Shack and experiences with the rest of the world.
