Deflection:
Up to 10% chance of totally ignoring damage as long as you have shields. The range (0%-10%) depends on your shield tech versus the enemy weapon tech. The range gets a 5% bonus (5%-15%) if the ship is a unique or affected by a Unique.
Turian Nightmare:
Requirements: Nanotech level 10, Shields level 16
- The most indestructable ship in the game.
- Affects up to 20 ships in the same fleet.
- Affected ships gain a 2% bonus to shield resistance, and a 5% bonus to chance of deflection.
- Affected ships have their weapon penetration versus enemy shieds reduced by 2 levels (level 1 is still minimum)
Note:The Gorgoth Dreadnought and Turian Nightmare have the same number of design slots. The Dreadnought has better bonuses to accuracy and weapon power, but has significantly weaker shields than the Nightmare, and lowered shield resistance. In a straight up fight, all things being equal, the Turian Nightmare should win, because of its massive shields and bonuses to damage deflection. This makes the Nightmare the most powerful ship in the game.
Starting Out
- Turians start by researching shields.
- Economic strength is weak at the start of the game, except for level 2 economics.
- You will find above average habs as a Turian, probably second only to Sirnef.
- Raise ore/production tech at first opportunity, and build an all-mega on your 3rd or 4th planet.
- Once you overcome the weak starting economy, Turians can expand at an above average rate because of the wealth of good habs they find.
- Turians are also welcomed into any alliance.
Ideal Alliance Partners
- Zeeb: opposite hab, rapid starship construction. Considering you will be building almost exclusively Nightmares in mid/late game, and these take upwards of 30 hrs to come off the production line, a Zeeb that can roll out new ships rapidly is an ideal partner.
- Gorgoth: opposite hab, complimentary military style. While your ships provide staying power, the Gorgoth provides destructive power. An unexpected side-effect of the relationship is that your ships will attract less fire thn the Gorgoth ships, because they take damage faster, making your ships even more resilient in battle.
- Shydow, Oomari: opposite hab, resilience. A Shydow unique-covered fleet takes 10% less damage, and an oomari 20% less from missiles and fighters, making the combination the toughest combo to take down.
- Toag: opposite hab, market discount.
Military
- When you have the tech, build Nightmares. Nothing else.
- Popular weapon choice for Turian is beams (beams provide point-defense bonus against missiles and fighters: see Starship, Beams), and fighters (sheer damage output).
- Build a minimum number of battleships for the sensor bonus (10+1 in each fleet).
