STARSHIP MISSILES
Description
1. Missiles have a 50% bonus to shield penetration, meaning that with equal tech levels, 50% of missile damage will penetrate to the enemy starship hull.
2. Missiles have 45% accuracy with 0 sensors, and 55% of ship's sensors are used to improve accuracy.
3. Missiles do 'splash damage' to planets, causing massive civilian casualties. A missile bombardment is the fastest way to kill off an enemy planets population.
Strategies
1. If your tech level is higher than the enemy shield-tech level, your damage penetration is sufficiently high that you can kill enemy starships before their shields are down.
2. Because each missile hit does hull damage regardless of shield level, you are reducing the effectiveness of the enemy starship from the first hit.
3. The easiest way to counter missiles is to increase the speed of your starships. Small, fast ships can have massive missile evasion.
4. With sufficient sensors, missiles are the most accurate weapon in the game, and devastating to enemy hulls.
