POPULATION GROWTH

Description
1. When you colonise a planet, the planet starts with a population of 75000.
2. Each tick, the population grows by a percentage of the current population, and continues to grow until all available accommodation is used up (10,000 population per megapoli).
3. The rate of growth is influenced by your species, with some having faster growth (Drall, SHydow) and others having slower growth (Oomari, Sirnef).
4. The worse the habitation of the planet for your species, the slower the rate of growth.
5. The more accommodation space left on the planet (megapolii), the faster the rate of growth. As available accommodation is used up (capacity approaches 100%) the growth rate declines to zero).
6. You can improve the rate of growth by researching nanotechnology.
7. You cannot exceed the capacity of the megapolii. Should you demolish megapoli to reduce the available accommodation, the excess population will rapidly die off.
8. Toags are able to boost their starting population by making use of 'slaves' captured during bombardments with their species ship, the Trader.

Strategies
1. Bioform your newly colonised planets to 100% habitation as rapidly as possible, so that poor habitation does not slow down your growth rate.
2. Build your megapoli first, so that you keep the used capacity as low as possible. The lower the used capacity, the faster the population growth, on a non-linear scale which declines to zero as you approach 100% capacity.
3. Build a few extra megapoli, so that your pop-growth continues to grow rapidly past the amount you will need to fully staff all your buildings. You can demolish the excess megapoli later.
4. Research nanotechnology. Not only will your planets bioform faster, the population growth rate is boosted by each level of nanotech you gain.
5. On some planets build megapolii exclusively in all available space. Such planets will have massive population growth, boost the global population of your empire (allowing you to colonise faster), and because 100% of the population is employed in 'tertiary' activities, you will earn an enormous bonus in credits from this planet.
