ETIQUETTE

These are unwritten rules, things which are frowned upon in the game by a large body of players. That is not to say that some players aren't guilty of breaches of these rules at various times. There may even be players who deliberately set out to breach some of these unwritten rules for whatever reason, be it a strategy to invite attack, or a means of gaining some advantage over other players.

Some of the etiquette of the game overlaps with rules set by the game developers, such as the use of offensive or racist terminology. In such cases you may find your account deleted or suspended. At best you may become the subject of a witch-hunt by other players.

Online Gaming Etiquette
1. The programming code is always under development. As such there may be times when bugs become evident, or loopholes may be discovered which the programmers did not foresee. Do not exploit either.
2. Do not use abusive language, derogatory or racist terms.
3. The game is free to play, and the developers are highly dependant on income from advertising banners. Do not use any utilities which will interfere with this meagre source of revenue.

Alliance Etiquette
The entirety of alliance etiquette can be summed up as follows: Entering into an alliance with anybody also involves entering into a debt of loyalty and common purpose. Your alliance members are not there for your personal gain, and all members have a responsibility to ensure that all other members have the best game that they can have.

1. Do not invite players into your alliance under false pretences.
2. Before joining an alliance, find out what rules or leadership policies are being used (leadership style, activity requirements, game objectives). Do not join an alliance if these objectives or rules are in conflict with your own play-style or game objectives.
3. Do not suicide another players fleet, or allow your alliance-mates fleets to die in battle when you could have provided assistance.
4. Do not exchange resources (donate or accept resources) in such a way that it will give one party an undue advantage at the expense of the other, even if the other is about to go inactive or leave the game. This is commonly referred to as being a 'donation whore'.
5. Your first loyalty is to the alliance, not to yourself or external entities (friends, clans).
6. If you feel you have to leave the alliance, or cannot continue playing, inform your alliance-mates and try and do so without prejudicing the alliance too much.
7. It is inevitable that players may disagree and someone might be booted, but do not boot someone in such a way that it will deliberately prejudice their position.
Remember, Its only a game. This means that you should play to have fun, to make friends, and that you should accept setbacks in the spirit of sportmanship and cameraderie. Its only a game is not an excuse to cheat, or inflict abuses of any kind, no matter how trivial, on other players.
